Here's a thread to discuss this month's Book of the Month. Have you read Parker Pyne Investigates? When I first read the book, my 1990's edition did not include two additional short stories that appeared in The Regatta Mystery and Other Stories. The current edition contains every Parker Pyne story.

Notice how the book stories are divided– The first several stories are about unhappy people who visit Pyne's office in the hopes of finding love or fulfillment. The last several are more traditional mysteries– murders, theft, and kidnapping– occurring while Pyne was on vacation. The two newly added stories are one jewel theft, and another "heart problem" on vacation.

while i was re-reading parker pyne investigates some questions flew to my mind questions like:

why agatha christie changed her writing style in this book from crimes to more into personal lives and emotions ? was it because she got bored from crimes little bit and wanted to change and if that was it a change for good? or she wanted to cover up all kind of cases ??

Do you think it was a good idea to create P.P so he can share the page with other detectives , but as being human nature specialist or you think that he is not that much necessary character and a used to detective like ( poirot or marple) could've taken his place in such cases ?

Reading Parker Pyne Investigates I was curios why EXACTLY halfway through. (Starting on Case Number 6) why Agatha Christie decided to stop writing about people going to ask him for help at his office and instead put him in exotic locations. Because from that point on she never wrote another story with him back in his office, not even in Problem At Pollensa Bay or the Regetty Mystery. Prehaps someone could provide the answer. Also what do you think of the change? Do you prefer it? Was it a wise move?
