Actually the story starts in Aleppo in Syria, where Poirot boards the train, and overhears a conversation between Mary Debenham and Col. Arbuthnot. Then he gets off the train in Istanbul meaning to stay a few days, gets a telegram calling him to rush to England and boards the Orient Express. The end of the story is not in any station - they are still stuck in the snowdrift, somewhere in Yugoslavia.
