I should say There is a Doctor, Poirot goes to the Miss Arrundel because of a Letter and the word Silor is in that bit about who shouldn't take to what kind of Play
Excellent @anne.clough.3! Yes it's Murder at the Vicarage
A rock was used in conjunction with picric acid to mimic a gunshot. When found with the rock the murderer tried to pass it off as an addition to Miss Marple's Japanese garden.
Marrons glace (glazed candied chestnuts) - On her first visit to Mr Rafiel's solicitors, Miss Marple speculates on some of the treats she may buy for herself with the money she will acquire if successful in her mission. I bet Hercule would be fond of these too.
Hastings - The town, not Captain Hastings. Miss Marple knows that she has seen one of the the other characters on the bus tour somewhere before. There is a discussion involving many English south coast seaside towns where this could have been.
Wethers (or Grey Wethers) - The locals name for the rock formation where a boulder is pushed onto another character in the story.
Ha, only because I have just been having a rather intense discussion about the very same novel (and television adaptation) with someone on another thread in here. Right, time to think........

Okay, here are the clues:
ACID, ROCK, JAPANESE GARDEN.
Thank you. Here's an easy one;
Party, painting, poison
The Mirror Cracked
YES, that is it!
There was a PARTY at the beginning.
One character looked at a PAINTING that reminds her of something.
She then employs POISON to have her revenge.
Your turn!
marrons glaces,
Hastings,
Wethers
I know first word is actually two words, but I think it's still within the spirit of things
