English crime author and critic Robert Barnard has died aged 76.

 

This merits a mention as he was the author of the excellent "A Talent To Deceive: An Appreciation of Agatha Christie", a not-too-heavy (and yet maybe all the better for being so?) look at her work. Of the many critics of Agatha Christie's work, Barnard is / was the one I find my own opinions agree with the most.

 

A great author in his own right, too.
