Russian film version of MOUSETRAP

I finally saw the 1986 Russian film version of MOUSETRAP (Мышеловка    or   Pelekautai)   I think they pushed the period back a few years to the early 1940s.  The women's clothes and shoes (especially Mollie's) seem to be of that period.
Although I didn't understand a word of the Russian, I know the play and the story well enough to follow it.   Overall I liked it very much.  There were some odd moments.   I won't give anything away, but lets just say they added some dancing !!  Maybe this was for comic relief since the story is grim.
I did like the addition of an added layer of character for the killer.    It did help to move the ending along for "catching" the culprit,  than in the stage version.  The play's ending is a bit contrived.

So this is two for two for the Russians.  I saw the 1987  Desyat' Negritya (And Then There Were None) which was quite good.

I will have to hunt down the Pocketful of Rye (1983  Tayna chyornykh drozdov)

Has anyone else seen it?  Thoughts?
