Agatha Christie and Nimrud.
In the last few days, news Items have appeared about the destruction of Nimrud, the ancient capital of Assyria, by I.S.I.S. (e.g. http://www.christianpost.com/news/isis-destruction-of-iraqs-ancient-city-of-nimrud-seen-in-new-photos-172520/).
It may interest readers of Agatha Christie to recall that she spent several digging seasons with her husband, the archeologist Max Mallowan, digging in Nimrud, and he published a book about his discoveries there. AC tells about their time in Nimrud in the ninth chapter of her autobiography (subchapter IV).
